Forge: your roadmap, moving every month
You've got a feature roadmap as long as your arm. Your team is running important processes through spreadsheets that have somehow become business-critical. Or perhaps you've got an app idea that needs building, but don't have the full-time development team to build it.
Forge gives you eight guaranteed development days every month, so you can turn those plans into working software – one priority at a time.

What is Hero+ Origin?

What is Forge?

Forge is our mid-level technical development tier, built for businesses with enough development work to need meaningful progress every month.
Think of it as eight days of guaranteed technical capacity, every month, for £6,999.
That might mean working through an existing feature roadmap, releasing improvements to your app or turning an unwieldy collection of spreadsheets and manual processes into a proper internal system.
Or perhaps you need to hire a Flutter developer or find a Laravel development company, but don't particularly want the cost, commitment or hassle of building an internal development function.
Forge gives you another option. Instead of hiring around a particular technology or commissioning one enormous project, you get an experienced technical team with a fixed amount of time to spend on your priorities each month.
The result? Your roadmap doesn't sit around waiting for the stars to align. It actually moves.
Fast where it matters
It's not just your website that will feel fast. As a small but responsive Harrogate web design agency, we can complete most builds in just six weeks or less.

What do eight monthly development days get me?
Real progress.
Eight development days give us enough time to take on more substantial work while retaining the flexibility of a monthly development model. Rather than saving up improvements for one big project, you can plan, build, test and release them in stages.
Here are a few examples of how Forge could work for you.

Don't have the time or resources to do it all themselves
See Forge in action
Our developers have spent more than 20 years building apps, platforms and bespoke systems for businesses with very different technical problems.
Forge gives you the capacity to put that experience to work every month.
Here are a few examples of the kind of work it could help you tackle.

Turning a complex process into one usable platform
Knock Knock
Custom app, API and CRM development
Knock Knock brings sellers, tradespeople and legal processes together within a single property platform. We developed the app alongside the APIs and CRM functionality needed to connect those different moving parts.
Is your business stitching together spreadsheets, emails and disconnected software to run an important process? Forge gives you the development capacity to replace that patchwork, piece by piece, with a bespoke system built to fit your unique operational needs.
Turning specialist expertise into commercial software
Environmental Science Group
Industrial safety software development
We helped Environmental Science Group redevelop WASPS – a commercial software product that generates visual safety data sheets for industrial environments. By doing so, it helps users communicate important safety information clearly and effectively.
Forge excels at this kind of niche application. Do you have specialist knowledge or a proven service that could become a digital product? Forge gives you the development capacity to turn that idea into working software – building, testing and refining it in stages.
Developing a digital product around real users
Semapen
Healthcare app development
Semapen needed a digital platform capable of supporting patients through a complex healthcare journey. Our work combined technical development with data-driven insights into how users interact with the service.
If you've already got an app or digital product that needs new features, better journeys or continuous improvement, Forge could be the answer. It gives you the regular capacity you need to keep pushing your product forward.
Spark
vs
Forge vs
Titan
Not sure whether eight days is the right amount of development time?
Our development support comes in three tiers: Spark, Forge and Titan. All give you the same standard of support and technical expertise. What changes is the time you have available – and, as a result, what you can realistically achieve.
Spark gives you four development days each month, making it suitable for maintenance, integrations and steady improvements. Forge doubles that capacity, giving us more room to build and release meaningful features. And Titan gives you 16 days – ideal for large, more demanding builds and production sprints.
That means no juggling suppliers. No disconnected strategies. And no paying for services you don't need. Instead, you get a tailored, data-driven marketing strategy delivered by experts who are ready to hit the ground running.
And best of all? It grows as you grow. Start with the package that fits your business today, then scale into more advanced tiers as your ambition pays off.
It's all your digital marketing, all joined up – and all starting from just £2,499 per month. Simple.
Don't have the time or resources to do it all themselves
Isn't Forge more expensive than a freelancer?
Yes, most likely.

But you're not simply paying for eight days of somebody's time. You're paying for certainty.
A good freelancer can be an excellent resource. The difficulty is finding the right one, making sure their skills match the job and knowing they'll still have capacity when the next stage of your roadmap is ready to go.
Forge gives you eight guaranteed development days every month, backed by senior technical oversight and an established team. Matthew Baker, our technical lead, has more than 20 years of software development and project management experience and personally oversees the technical work.
And because you're working with a team rather than depending on one person's skillset, we can bring in trusted specialists where the project calls for them.
Your roadmap keeps moving. You know who's accountable. And you know what it will cost.
What is Hero+ Origin?
Who pays for what?
Forge costs £6,999 per month for eight guaranteed development days.
That's it.
There are no setup fees and no separate discovery charges. You pay for our time and expertise, and nothing else.
Your hosting, licences and other third-party costs remain yours. We'll manage them where necessary, but you pay the providers directly. That means you can see exactly where your money is going, without unrelated costs disappearing into a mysterious development invoice.

Fast where it matters
It's not just your website that will feel fast. As a small but responsive Harrogate web design agency, we can complete most builds in just six weeks or less.
That last point is key. Too often, digital marketing is split between different agencies with different ideas and approaches. Hero+ Origin keeps it simple, affordable and cohesive, with one team of marketing experts all working towards the same goal: your growth.

Your questions answered
Can I use Forge to build an app?
Yes. Forge is well suited to simple and moderate app projects, depending on the scope and timescale.
As a rough guide, a simple app might take around five to nine months on Forge. A moderate app is likely to take nine months or longer.
If speed or complexity is a major factor, Titan's 16-day monthly allocation might be a better fit.
Can I use Forge for an existing product roadmap?
Absolutely. In fact, this is one of Forge's strongest use cases.
Eight monthly development days give us enough capacity to take agreed priorities from your backlog and turn them into real improvements. We'll plan the work with you each month, so everybody knows what they're working towards.
Can I use Forge instead of hiring an in-house developer?
It depends on what exactly you need. However, it can certainly give you many of the things you'd use an in-house developer for without the need to recruit another employee.
That includes building features, creating integrations, improving internal systems and maintaining existing software. You also get access to a wider team rather than relying on one person's knowledge and availability.
I was planning to hire a Flutter developer. Is Forge an alternative?
Potentially. If what you actually need is Flutter development capacity rather than another permanent employee, Forge could be a good fit. It gives you regular access to experienced development expertise without recruiting, onboarding or equipment costs.
More importantly, you're not restricted to a single technology or individual. If the project also requires API, backend, UX or other specialist input, we can bring the right expertise to the work.
Are you a Laravel development company?
Laravel is among the technologies we can work with, but Forge isn't a Laravel-only service.
With Forge, you're buying development capacity rather than one particular technical skill. That gives us the flexibility to use the right expertise across your application, integrations, database and wider technical stack.
Will I be charged separately for the discovery phase?
No. Discovery lives inside Forge.
At the beginning of a new project, some of your eight allocated development days will be used to understand the problem, requirements and existing technical environment. From there, we'll agree priorities and start putting the remaining capacity to work.
There's no separate discovery fee and no requirement to commission an expensive technical specification before development begins.
Can you guarantee a feature will be finished in a month?
We can't guarantee that every feature will be ready to launch within a month, but Forge gives you eight dedicated development days to keep your roadmap moving.
Some features can be designed, built and tested within that time. Others may need to be broken down into smaller stages across several months. We'll work with you to prioritise the backlog, set realistic expectations and agree what we're aiming to deliver each month.
Will I definitely get the eight days I pay for?
Yes. We cap the technical capacity we sell at a level our team can genuinely deliver. We don't sell more days than we can work.
Do I have to use all eight days on one project?
No. Your monthly allocation can be focused on one project or divided across different priorities.
You might spend most of the month developing a new feature, for example, then use some of the remaining time to fix an issue or improve an integration. We'll help you plan the allocation sensibly.
What happens if I need more than eight days?
If it's a one-off, we'll take a look at our capacity and do what we can. We charge any extra time at a day rate of £875 plus VAT. This is subject to availability and must always be agreed in advance.
If you regularly need more time, you might want to consider upgrading to Titan, which gives you 16 guaranteed development days each month.
What happens to unused time?
If you don't use your time, it doesn't roll over. Your eight days are reserved for you each month. So, the best way to get value from Forge is to maintain a clear pipeline of priorities that we can keep moving through.
On the flip side, time we fail to provide will be reallocated, carried forward or credited. You won't lose out if we can't deliver the days we agreed.
How long is the minimum contract?
Forge has a six-month minimum term. After that, it moves onto a rolling contract with 30 days' notice.
Who owns the code?
Anything we develop specifically for your business is yours once you've paid for it in full. That includes bespoke code, designs and other original work.
The exceptions are any third-party or open-source components, which remain subject to their own licences, and our generic, reusable tooling. The latter never contains proprietary or identifiable information from your business.
How do we communicate?
You'll have one main contact who handles everything, plus a monthly planning conversation to decide what we're tackling next and keep the roadmap moving.
Keep your roadmap moving. Every. Single. Month.
There's always another reason to put development off. The budget isn't approved. The freelancer isn't available. The specification isn't finished. Everyone's too busy firefighting to tackle the system that's causing half the fires.
Forge gives you eight guaranteed days every month to stop talking about the work and start shipping it.
One priority at a time. One fixed monthly cost. Something real to show for it.
Sounds good? Let's talk.
