  • You are not saving money by doing your own marketing. You are spending your salary on a job you are not qualified for. And I say that with love....

Let me do some maths with you. Let us say you run a business. You are earning, or should be earning, about £40 to £60 an hour.

At least. That is what your time is worth when you are doing the thing you are actually good at. Now let us say you spend 10 hours a week on marketing.

Fiddling with social media. Trying to write a blog. Googling 'how to set up Google Ads' at 11pm with one eye closed.

That is 40 hours a month. At your hourly rate, that is somewhere between £1,600 and £2,400 a month you are spending on marketing. Except you are not getting marketing.

You are getting... an attempt. And I am not being horrible.

I am being honest. You would not rewire your own house because you once changed a lightbulb. Marketing is the same thing.

The worst part? Most business owners do not even realise they are spending this money. It is invisible.

It does not show up on a spreadsheet. It just shows up as burnout and a LinkedIn page that gets 3 likes, one of which is your mum. We built a tool called the Marketing MOT.

It checks 8 areas of your marketing and gives you a score out of 100. It also calculates the hidden cost of the time you are spending. That number is usually the bit that makes people go quiet.

Look. You started your business because you are brilliant at something. The best thing you can do for your marketing is stop doing it and let someone else be brilliant at that instead.

Link is below. Go check your MOT score. And if the hidden cost makes you wince, good.

    That means it is working.
