  • You have 3 seconds. That is how long someone gives your website before they decide to stay or leave. Most websites fail this test and the owners have no idea...

The 3-second test is simple. Someone lands on your homepage. After 3 seconds, they should be able to tell you three things.

What you do. Who it is for. And what they should do next.

Try it right now. Open your website. Look at it for 3 seconds.

Be honest. Could a stranger answer those three questions? Nine times out of ten, the answer is no.

Because the homepage says something like 'Innovative solutions for a changing world.' Which means absolutely nothing. That could be a plumber. That could be NASA.

That could be a sandwich shop with ideas above its station. Or the homepage has a massive image slider that takes up the entire screen and by the time it has finished sliding, your visitor has already left to look at your competitor who just said 'We fix boilers in Leeds. Call now.' Clear.

Simple. Done. Here is what passes the 3 second test.

A clear headline that says what you do. A subheading that says who it is for. And a button that tells them what to do next.

That is it. That is the formula. It is not exciting.

It is not clever. But it works, and clever does not pay your bills. Go test your site.

If it fails, do not panic. Fixing it is literally what we do. Link below.
