Behind the Cape
Why I Left My Job to Start a Marketing Agency
Not a dream. Not a plan. Just a bloke who needed to earn a living from home while being there for his mum. This is the story.

I did not start this business because I had a dream. I started it because my family needed me and I needed to earn a living at the same time. When my dad died, I became my mum's carer...
That was not a career choice. That was a life choice. But it meant I could not work a normal 9 to 5 any more.
I could not commute. I could not be in an office. I needed to earn money from home, on my own terms, around someone else's needs.
So I started doing marketing for small businesses. Not because I thought I would build an agency. Because I needed to pay the bills while looking after the person who spent my whole life looking after me.
It started small. Really small. One client.
Then two. Then someone referred someone, and that person referred someone else. And slowly, very slowly, it became a real business.
I hired Oliver to make us sound like humans instead of a brochure. I hired Matthew because he is the most talented developer I have ever met and he deserved a job that actually treated him properly. I brought in Jared because I am honest enough to know that Google Ads is not my strength and I would rather pay someone brilliant than pretend I know what I am doing.
Every person on our team has a story. Every client has a story. And the story behind this agency is not about disruption or innovation or any of those words people put on LinkedIn.
It is about a person who needed to work from home, cared about doing good work, and somehow ended up here. I tell you this not for sympathy. I tell you this because it explains why we do things the way we do.
We care about the people we work with because I know what it feels like when someone does not care. We are honest because life is too short to pretend. And we build things properly because our name is on everything that goes out the door.
If you are looking for an agency that was started by someone who had no choice but to make it work, you have found one.
